I just wanted to know if anyone has heard a 3.9 with a ravin?? Had a guy at the muffler shop tell me it would sound best on the 3.9 want some more opinions.

that wasnt a midas muffler shop was it? Ravin is there in house performance muffler...I think they sound ok..but he may just be trying to make some extra money over selling a flowmaster

In my opinion I wouldn't waste the money. I had one with duals and cans. It sounds exactly like a V8 at idle but was so loud in the cab when accelerating that I couldn't stand it. I had it removed and put on a Dynomax Superturbo. I still have a .wav file I can e-mail to you if you like.

I won(and I never win anything) a complete Ravin exhaust system for my 2000 Dakota. It is a 3.9 L V-6 5 speed manual. I would like a bit of a rumble at idle but would like to carry on a conversation inside the cab. I'm basically looking for some volume when I drop it down but don't want to get too loud. The manager at the shop(Wonder Muffler) is recommending the Z33. Has anyone tried this model on their own Dakota and what model would you suggest?

natureboyG, the Z33 is the loudest muffler ravin makes. If your want something that is quiter go with the Z55 or the Z77. In my opionion the Z33 would make your truck sound like a ricer.

I had a ravin exhaust on my old turck which was an 87 ranger with a 2.9 V6. It was the z33 It wasn't really that loud. In my opinion it sound really good It had kind of a sporty european atuocross sound to it. I would imagine that it would sound even better on a 3.9 simply becuase it a bigger engine. Haven't heard one on a dak but i'm sure it would sound great.
Just my 2cents.

I hav a 1975 chevy k-10 with two ravin's under it. Yes it it quite at idle but when that thing gets going it reminds me of a monster truck and theres nothing wrong with that.
so In my opinion get it and have fun.
