Subject: 2000 V6 High Idle IP: Logged
Message: Hello,
I have a 2000 V6. My truck will start normally but after driving it about 10 minutes, the idle will bounce up to about 1200RPM in gear and around 2000RPM in Neutral. Occasionally, the idle will return to normal after driving for awhile but most of the time the idle is very high. I have replace the IAC and TPS. I also cleaned the Throttle Body.
Any Ideas???
As a side note, I bypassed the AC with a new belt just before this started happening. I don't think this caused it but wanted to make it known.

Did you unplug the compressor?

Message: Yes, I have unplugged the compressor and the A/C Clutch. I also reset the computer after that. Still no luck. I have checked for vacuum leaks and none were found. I am completely stumped.

Message: Does it do this all of the time or just when the climate control is set for A/C? If the climate control is set to A/C it will tell the PCM to increase idle speed when the compressor is supposed to beon. Without the extra load of the compressor, idle will increase.

Message: It does this on and off all of the time. Even with the A/C turned off. I might be ok for 10 minutes or an hour and then all of a sudden, when I slow to a stop, the idle will not come down with me. It stays around 1200RPM. If I take it out of gear and out it in park the RPM will jump up past 2000RPM. Sometimes if I get stuck at a long red light the RPM will slowly come down to where it should be.

Message: When you replaced your IAC you may
have accidentally turned the lever on the
throttle body, causing it to idle higher.
Maybe try unintalling/reinstalling it to
make sure.

Message: why don't you use the right belt for your application? its very simple to comprehend either you have ac or you don't. tell that to the parts guy next time.
