I am hearing that on a 92 dakota 3.9 the tensioner did not come with origional motor, it must be installed aftermarket with new chain. Can someone enlighten me on this. lenny thanx

They didnt come from factory. Buy one when you replace chain and gears. The new chain will stretch
somewhat and be noisy without it.
