hey, i have recently bought a 96 dodge dakota 4x ext cab, the first day on the way home it broke down with a clogged catalytic converter. dealer fixed it. on the way home from meineke it slowly lost power and eventually died out as if it was out of gas. also, the engine rocked a bit and there was a knocking sound under the gas pedal when i tried to push it. wouldnt even start up at first but after maybe 5 min it started and ran for a little bit and then did the same thing. babied it to autozone and the codes were 2 cylinder misfires and a too lean and a too rich. i cleared the codes, i did a full tune up, oil and plugs/wires and cap/rotor, and filled it with high test at the same time. it ran well until it seemed to get to about half a tank then it started acting up again so off to autozone again and the same codes. put fuel treatment in and filled with high test and runs well again. im hoping its not the fuel pump, but i think it might be. am i doomed to replace the fuel pump now or is there anything else?

Get a gage and a Haynes or Chiltons repair manual and check the fuel pressure according to the manual.
