Subject: 1989 dakota running bad in gear IP: Logged
Message: Hi im gonna be getting my dads old truck soon its a 1989 3.9L V6 automatic tbi injection and while its a good running truck when its moving it has a odd issue that we havent solved with any of our knowlage when idling in gear mainly the truck shakes and shudders i was wondering since we have tried almost everything but the throttle body could it be that or is it something else the truck is pushing at almost 200,000 miles on it its not a beautiful truck but we have owned it for about 6 years now anybody know what the issue could be?

These engines often developed a vacuum leak at the intake manifold. Spray some carb cleaner around there and see if the idle changes.
