Message: You'll need someone's help, Take the #1 plug out
hold your thumb over the hole. Have someone rotate
the crank till you feel the air pushing your thumb
off the hole. (you are now on compression stroke).
Take a long pencil eraser side down. (make sure
it's a full pencil so it can't be dropped in) Now
have them keep turning the crank slow you wan't
the piston all the way to the top. (go to far
starts to move down have them go back just a
hair).
Now drop Dist. in with rotor point to #1 wire on
cap. (now you have timing set) pcm will do the
rest) But now you have to set inj. syn. and you'll
need someone else to time in as I don't think you
have the plate markings under the rotor on a 97.

Start a new post/thread
You now have to set the injector syn.
I know how to manually set it on older models
but as I said above I don't think yours is the
same. (lacking lines on plate under rotor)
Make note without injector syn. set your injectors
are opening and closing at the wrong time.
Start a new thread "setting injector syn on a 97"
or what ever year. Larry of J&J auto is the best
guy for this.
Glad I could help with step one, step 2 will be
easier.
They are not like the old engines your Dist. On
these engines controls your spark timing and
injector syn. (timing)
