My 99 dodge dakota will not shift out of second to third gear. I was told that I should get a new transmission, but then i was also told that its probably just a solenoid in the tranny. I would really like to save the money and hope its just the solenoid, but how do I replace that? for anyone to answer thank you for your time.

The parts are around $200 replace both the pressure
sensor and sol.
Remove trans pan have the parts handy so you
remove the correct ones
This is a very common problem with the RE transmissions
But befor you do this be sure you check and clean all the electrical connection and check
the grounds
