Subject: ABS & BRAKE indicator IP: Logged
Message: MY '94 Dak with 248,000 miles has the ABS and BRAKE indicator light illuminated in the dash. It appears to be losing brake fluid at the master cyl. I have crawled around under the truck and cannot find any leaks. Am I correct in starting with replacing the master cyl?

Message: when you pump the brakes standing still do you
get a strong smell in the exhaust, dont just start
smelling the exhaust up close but if its leaking
and pulling fluid in thru the vac booster a lot
of times you can smell it
Yes this sounds like the problem if there are
no other visible leaks also the pedal will
slowly go to the floor if there was another leak
while holding on the brake the pedal would drop
down slowly

Message: I replaced the mc and then blew out a rear steel line. I am having the line replaced but, the rear bleeders were gone. I am now having rear wheel cylinders replaced.
