Subject: Exhaust system? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, been a long time since Ive been on here but info was never bad so heres my problem..
The other day the rear flange on my muffler broke at the weld for the outlet of the muffler, not the tail pipe but the muffler outlet. I have jba headers, no cat, and a flowmaster muffler 2.5 in and out I believe. I need a new cat and muffler, whats the best for the price? any help is greatly appreciated.

Message: Depending on how strict the cops and laws are by you i would say just eliminate the cat (unless your truck happens to need backpressure which i doubt but check it first). A new glasspack is around 30 bucks. My 95 with the 3.9 liter is set up like that with 2 and a half out the back and and it isnt crazy loud.

Message: thanks sam, I do think my truck needs backpressure, I ran without a cat for bout 3 years and my fuel mileage never improved. Of course the O2 sensors were reading that the cat wasnt workin so that probably shot fuel mileage from the begining. Any other advice is welcome! I need to get somethin together soon, thanks.

Message: I did a little manual searching on here, so far not too much about a high flow cat but I found the dynomax 17748 super turbo is the muffler I'll probably go with. I have a flowmaster 40 delta flow now and its just too loud for me. If it was a v8 that would be a totally different story! So, any info on a highflow cat and the best place to pick one up would be great! thanks guys

Message: Went on ebay and found magnaflow hi flow cat 2 1/2" in and out for $76.09 with free shipping. I really dont want to spend a lot of money on this stuff but if it improves my gas mileage and last a long time it'll be well worth it in the long run. any input appreciated!

Message: Dynomax 17748 muffler w/ stock tailpipe is pretty good, and low cost. Not very loud, loud enough to hear you engine running, not loud enough to piss off neighbors= nice sound good performance
= that's my 2 cents

Message: Magnaflow sounds okay.
Dynomax sound quiet.
And flowmaster is LOUD!
I got magnaflow on mine, not too loud
but not too quiet and it hits
nice at 3g RPMs.
I'm thinking maganflow gives better performance
but I'm not sure about it.
