I guess that's self-explanatory. There is a solenoid to shift from 3rd to 4th gear, and it's not working. Drop the tranny pan, inspect the solenoid and wiring. Sometimes they come loose from the valve body and you can tighten the screws. Sometimes you change out the solenoid pack, about $70 plus your labor and tranny fluid. Use only ATF+4.

Message: Unfortunately, you have to drop the valve body to get the old connector out and new one in. The connector is a tight press-fit thru the tranny case, with an O-ring to seal the fluid. But to avoid this grief, did you check that the three torx screws holding the solenoid pack to the valve body were tight? If they are not, fluid will leak around the solenoids and cause this problem. If they were tight, then replace the solenoid pack.
To drop the valve body, you must disconnect the shift linkage inside, which is held by an E-clip to the valve body, then remove the screws holding the body, and catch the accumulator piston and spring, which will drop down on the right side. Make note of which way they go in. The worst part is trying to reinstall that E-clip. Took me 2 hours of wrestling. And the accumulator piston can be held in place with vaseline petroleum jelly, while reinstalling the valve body. Good luck.

Next thing I need to do is Adjust the throttle valve cable and fix the A/C.
