Message: Simple question...
I have the 3.9, urggg, but i need some exhaust sound for my next mod. I was wondering whether it is a good idea to cut out the catalytic converter on the 3.9 or if it is too much of a loss of low end torque. What do you do with sensors if it is cut out? Also, what is a good muffler. I like the gibson side swept, but it is a little pricy. How does the flowmaster 40 series sound? I need more power, then a nice kackle not straight pipes sound.
Thanks for the help!

Message: hey, dont know about the cat, but i just went
with a dynomax ultra flo with three inch cat
backs....trust me, it'll give you the sound you're
looking for....not too loud either, but it'll
definetely be noticeable...

Message: Too much of a bottom-end performance loss. Stick with a High-Flow cat and a decent cat-back exhaust system.

Message: My dad got me a 1993 dodge dakota. 5 spd 3.9 liter single cab short bed. I got a flowmaster installed 40 series. It sets off some alarms. Shakes frames inside of the house. It is a little quieter than when you cut the pipes before the muffler and I am 15 years of age. cool.

Message: i just cut the cat out of my 99dak and havent noticed a drop in anything at all, it sounds a little better just because the air is goin into my exhaust harder but other than that not much difference. I cut it out of there cuz it went bad, not cuz i wanted more sound or anything. Sorry if that doesnt help, just puttin my two cents in.

Subject: Flowmaster trade for OEM
Have a flowmaster (about 1 year old) mounted on my V6
'98 Dakota Sport 4x4. Willing to trade even for a new
or like new condition OEM muffler for same truck.
Exhaust parts on V8s and V6s are the same..so either
will work. stock mount 2.5 in and out, all stock
parts and pipes...just bolt in up, Also, I believe
flowmaster has a lifetime warranty (check their site
to be sure). This exhaust is deep and throaty and
would sound fantastic on a V8. I prefer the quiter
life of a stock V6, however. Although I've gotten
nothing but compliments on the sound of the
flowmatered V6.
Located just outside of Albany, NY. No shipping
because of the price and the fact that I need my truck
to be operational as a daily driver. Unless you can send me yours, I can swap them and then send you mine.
