Message: Here are some pics of my rims. I haven't made up my mind whether I like them or not. Because they are so wide, I had to go with a low profile tire, so they aren't as tall as I wanted. I may drop the truck a bit later to fill in the wheel well.

The rims look great Lesley! How's it ride with the shorter tires? Also I'm sure you've noticed an improvement in the takeoff :-)
As for your promise not to spend more money on your Dak it's okay to break a promise as long as it's to yourself. Especially if it makes your karma happy once you see the finished project.

Message: I'd be doing a little research on a taller sidewall on the tires. But the wheels look smoooooooooooth. Even if you lower the thing, you need just a bit more sidewall.

Message: We tried several kinds of tires, because they are so wide, a taller sidewall would rub, there wasn't enough clearance throughout the turning radius.

Was/is there enough clearance for when you drop it? You're probably looking a 2" / 4" drop to make the gap look similar to stock.

I'm truly sorry that you're not happy with the way things turned out Lesley. I know that you've been wanting these rims for a long time and to have them come out "okay" must be a little disappointing to say the least.
Did you ask the tire shop about running a larger size in the back? It would help fill the gap both before and after the drop. Oh yeah ... where were the taller tires rubbing?

Something that just came to mind is how about using a wheel spacer. Your tires are only 10.43" wide and that's not much wider than the stock 255/55/15 I used to run (10.04"). So the problem must be you have too much backspacing on the rims.
If you have a 1/2" spacer made up it should move the rims/tires out enough so you can run a taller tire. You might have to pick up a set of fender flares, but it would be a lot less exensive than dropping your Dak.
And as for the safety of wheel spacers, I know a couple people that have run them on their Daks (Gen2 running Gen3 rims) with no problems.
Anyway that just came to mind and I wanted to through it out.

I ran across a couple sites that might help.
www.performancewheel.com/adapters.html
- wheel spacers that are billet aluminum and made to order. They have/can make spacers for Dakota's.
4wheeldrive.about.com/cs/wheelspacers/
- A collection of wheel sacer/adaper sites

Message: Nice wheels, Lesley. 10 inches wide. Wow!! What size rubber did you put on. I hate to say this but it looks like you need to drop the truck a little. Looks almost like a 4x4. I sympathize with the spending. I also promised not spend on my truck for a little while. But on ebay, those carbon tail lights look great. Post pictures when you drop the truck.

Actually Les, as a fellow ontarioan, a 2/4 drop
will be great, with our roads, any lower than this
and you wont want to drive it..

Message: :) I looked at every grille on the market until I found this little kit. I wanted it to look like the SRT-10, but most of them were just way too much metal. This is just a set of chrome polyvinyl sleeves that fit onto the existing slats with strong adhesive. They look exactly the way I wanted, and about a quarter of price of the expensive kits.
