I have a two wheel drive 1997 v6 if i wanted to change it to the v8 engine do you think the trans would hold up? anyone done this before

I talked to my friend who has done a complete swap with his two trucks. He told me that if you were going to switch it you would need a new trans.

The trans will hold up just fine. A rebuild is suggested for the transmission.

Chrysler put the old 904 tranny which is the A500 w/o the OD in trucks and cars behind 360s for years.
I put a 360 in front of a 904 and drove the snot out of it with no problems.
