I would not even waste my time. What, they want 50 bucks for a 50 cent resistor that you can get from Radio Shack?

Same thing, just a 50 cent resistor in a pretty package. If you want to improve performance with something electronic you'll have to spend some money for a programmer like Superchips or the like.
