I bought a 99 Dakota, 3.9, extended cab 4x4 Sport, 4 speed auto w/ OD,3.9 rear end,1800 lb payload pkg. I upped the performance with an add on computer module, raised the air intake withe one of those 1" (vortex) deals, and replaced the stock air intake and filter with a Mac Ind. high volume intake and filter.
My objective was to get a few more towing HP to pull my 24 ft. Shadow Cruiser fifth wheel (3,600 lbs empty). It is very aerodynamically designed, not one of those skyscaper-high jobs. I took it on a 4,000 mile trip from Colorado to California and back (lots of high mountains) and averaged 13.5 mpg.
Will one of those superchargers help me get up the grades faster? Will it improve the average mpg?
