 Subject: 93 no dash lights

93 dakota with no dash lights, headlights come on
and the high beam light in instrumental cluster
comes on but nothing else , tried replacing bulbs
in back of cluster to no avail..help please

I bet your tail lights don't work, either.
There are these little things under the dash called fuses....

Did you have something new wired into your dakota? My dad wired in a cd player and it messed up the control panel lights and a few other things. The next day i rewired it correctly and it fixed every thing.

no not anything new wired, i can tell u that a while ago half the cluster light up and then one day nothing lights up, i already have been replacing cluster lights and unplugged red connecter and re connected it, nothing diffent.

just found out that there is apparently not any power coming from the #13 fuse slot, using that thing that tests that, checked the other fuses around there and the little light lit up showing there was power to them what do i do next anyone?

How did you check the fuses? Visually?
They can look good while being bad.

its not the fuses, i checked them with that contiuity tester i think thats what its called, no power from 13 slot..

Buy one of the lights that bent, plug in to cig lighter and hang over instruments, thats how I have it and it works.

Tony, try running a wire from a fuse next to the #13 and see if the lights will work then. If so try taking the fuse box out and look to see if the wiring to the box is broken. If it was mine I would run a hot wire to the #13 fuse (if thats the problem) and still use the fuse to protect the rest of the wiring.

I have a similar problem and i really need help i replaced the dash lights in my 93 and wen i got everything put back together my dash cluster quit working well everything besides the speedometer but i have a manual so it would be great if i could get the others back... can anyone help

Check the ground wire
Should run from bottom of dash
(near steering wheel)
to behind the drivers side kick panel

ran a hot wire to the hot wire in the headlight
switch to the 13 th fuse slot, all good now thanks

i have a 94 dakota that when i turn my lights on i lose all guages and lights in my dash and during the day when i use my signals it makes my guages jump up and down please help as i need this fixed asap its my only transportation

Headlight switches often go bad in these trucks. The dimmer function on mine failed several years ago, so dash lights are either full brightness or nothing.

WHEN HEADLIGHT SWITCH IS PULLED ON I HAVE NO DASH LIGHTS,ALL GAUGES WACK OUT WITH IMPROPER READINGS,TACH QUIT PERMINATLY,ONLY LIGHT ON IS ARROW INDICATER FOR TURN SIGNALS STAYS ON,DOES BLINK WHEN SIGNALS ARE USED BUT EACH BLINK MAKES AMP GAUGE JUMP ACCROSS LEFT TO RIGHT.
