Message: 92 club cab the alternator will start charging real high volts while driving then drop down to nothing then normal then real high anybody have any idea

Message: First you will have to make sure it is really over
charging and not the gauge. Now for the bad news if
it really is over charging your voltage regulator is
part of the pcm.

Message: definitely over charging makes the headlights blow if there on bright and that is what i figured but i was hoping it would be something cheaper

Message: Have you checked or redone that infamous
splice under the fuse/relay box yet ?
Six to eight inches down the harness ..
Also - main ground for pcm - just at back of alternator - clean and tight ?

Message: no i haven't done the splice yet but thats the first thing on my list. i just found this forum and found out about it i bet that fixes a lot of the strange electrical problems i have (buzzer works then don't, radio works then don't,...) i have cleaned the connectors on the back of the alt.

Message: replaced the 140 amp alternator fuse. Will stay running now when u unhook battery ,but,gagues bounce all over unless the parking brake is depressed a little ,however, tach doesn 't work & amp gague still reads discharge
