Subject: Water in my power steering pump

Message:
Hay i think that some water got into my power steering pump, just a little bit. What I was wondering is if someone makes a additive that cleans out the power steering lines or somthing, anyone else have this problem?

You best bet would be too disconnect the low pressure line, drain the pump, and refill it. Since water and oil don't mix the water would keep traveling through the system causing problems. I don't think there are any additives for the power steering system that will do that, since the fluid doesn't get used up, whatever you put in stays in.

I also got a Q? about powersteering
pump. Mine seems to whine like crazy,
could be water as well. So it is safe
to drain the two hoses conted to the pump?

oh yeah, does the water sit on top or the
bottom of the P.S. Fluid?

thanks

why change the o-ring? is it ripped or somthing?
Try putting in some powersteering conditioner found at wal-mart. I put that in last time i sucked all the old stuff out and put new stuff in. It seemed to work for about a week or so. I didn't even think about totaly draining it by unplugin the hoses.

Yeah I saw that stuff lastnight, but i still have to drain it, i got a napkin and diped it and i didnt like the color it was, but when i do change it, im going to but that conditioner in it also at the same time. My steering works fine, it dont sream or nothing, it just did it once, after i went threw that water.
