Message: Does it make sense that my 3.9 would start pinging
only after I replaced the plugs on it? Could the
wrong plugs cause this?

Message: The routing of the wires if not done properly could cause pinging. Worn cap & or rotor also can cause it. How are the wires, How old are they?
Lastly the best plugs for the 3.9
NGK FR5 (V-power plugs)
