 Subject: Help Me Too! transmission identification

I have 1995 dodge dakota 4x4 3.9? V6 A.T. with O.D ext cab blue.
I was told Dodge dakota 4x4 v6 auto trans 94,95,
and jeep grand cherokee 4x4 6 cyl 94,95,96
Use the same trans
after searching for 6 mo.
I found one @ junk yard and pulled the trans from
94 jeep grand cherokee 4x4 6 cyl
Then Spent ten Hours Pulling My Transmission
The clearances are so tight/Poorly engineered
I set them next to each other they are different
Lengths by 8 in. What transmission do i need & what other vehicles use the same exact transmission? since its so hard to find one i need to know all vehicles makes models years etc.

1992 to 1995 are all 42 RH
you can also use any 1988 and up trams as long
as it hase the 3 prong plug
In 1995 they actualy made a few changes internal
to make them stronger and than called it a 42, I
cant remember the # they called it befor the changes
was done to the clutch pack planitary gears
What I would recomend is any of these
transmissions is to get the 220500 TCI shift kit
before you put it in and do the heavy dudty towing
part of the kit if you want real firm shifts than
use the blocker rod
This will make it run cooler and last longer
Who ever told you a jeep was the same id wrong
the jeeps use what is called an asian 500 its
similer but not the same and will not fit

so you are saying 1988-2009 dodge dakota 4x4
trans. will fit and work in my 1995 ?
If the 3 prong plug?(what 3 prong plug)
The Electrical harness wire connection?
I don't mean to be stupid, I removed the transmission with help from a friend and he unplugged all the little stuff,I took out most of the bolts.
I just can't get this wrong again.
I really can't afford the cost of this now,work is slow and now my truck is stuck down at his shop in the way.and no one is buying the transmission That I bought to put in it the first time.
sorry about the whining.

Noooo!! Stop the train!! A transmission from a 92 93 94 or 95 will fit your truck.
Larry, does that mean a tranny out of a 4wd will fit in my 2wd? As long as it's a 42RH?

That's what I originally Thought excluding
the use of the jeep trans.
which I do thank you for letting me know that's not an option for me.
Q: dodge dakota 4X4 V6 only? V8 is different trans?
dodge dakota 4X4 V6 ("92 93 94 & 95")are so rare
@ wrecking yards in SF bay area and who knows if they are good or not. if no good The wrecker will give me a credit slip but could be months before they get another Truck of those years.
I'm starting to see why they ask
1200 used
2800 rebuilt
doesn't that sound kinda expensive though
for that price the truck doesn't seem worth saving.

That's the situation I'm in. No point in rebuliding it for $1600 when I bought the truck for $1500. And you are right, that's a hard to find model.. anywhere. Luckily I was told about a guy that rebuilds em dirt cheap but does very good work.

In 92 it was called A500.
Can get confusing.
It's basi8cally a 904 with an OD unit tacked on.
