Subject: torque converter flex plate IP: Logged
Message: is there any gain to changing the torque flex plate?
other than i would think its stronger?
is it less rotating mass?i am doing a 318 swap

Message: You may need the torque converter for the 318 as well -- not sure which has the 'timing' parts
for ignition , but also engine balance .

Message: the 5.2 is neutrally balanced, and the part that the crank sensor uses is the flexplate. not sure if the flexplates and torque conv. is the same for the 3.9 and 5.2, though, sorry. If you can get them with the engine or already have them, then why not play it safe and just install the ones from the v8? Also, DO NOT use either the flexplate or flywheel from a 5.9, as the 5.9 is externally balanced and is not suited for use on a 5.2
