Subject: At What Mileage? IP: Logged
Message: Guy's: I have an 02 4x4 3.9 liter with 75,000 miles on it. I was wondering when I should do a complete change out of the hoses. What are your recommendations? Should I also consider changing out the water pump? I dont want to change the hoses and take the chance of having the pump go south right afterwards. Thx for your thoughts on this.>>AJ

Message: You can follow the Owner's Manual Maintenance Schedule. I've got about 130k on my '00 and haven't changed any of those things you mentioned. But, I do change the coolant about every 18-24 months. My hoses still look and feel good. Usually when hoses start to get soft or swell it's time to change them.
If you do change the waterpump, if it's in your budget you should change all the hoses and T-stat.

Message: And if or when you do the waterpump definitely change out the little "L" shaped by-pass hose, thats the one that always seems to go first and its a pain to get to. I had to remove the ac bracket just to get to it.
