Subject: 01 3.9 Coolant Leak
IP: Logged

Message:
I recently replaced the waterpump on my 01 3.9. Lower radiator hose, bypass hose, thermostat all replaced in the process. I drove it for a day and half with no issues. Then I spotted a coolant leak. I went back and tightened all the bolts on the waterpump, found one that was loose. The leak appeared to have stopped. Now, I can drive the truck all day with no problems. However, if it idles for any amount of time in park, once I shut it off, I get the leak. It doesn't leak much but it is obviously coolant. Also, it appears to be dripping from the bottom of the fan guard so I am pretty sure it isn't from the waterpump. All of the hoses seem to be tight and there is no leak around the thermostat. Also, I had the system pressure tested and it held pressure through two tests. Any ideas?

Also, this only seems to happen when it idles in park for a period of time. I do not get any sort of leak if I drive from point A to point B and under no circumstance has it overheated.

I just replaced the radiator cap and topped off the coolant. Let the truck idle for 15 minutes or so then drove it about 5 miles in traffic. Parked it. It still leaks.
