Subject: Wierd dakota problem... IP: Logged
Message: Alright, I have a 1997 3.9L Dak. The other day
when I went to start the engine, it ran real rough
and died out. Then I started to diagnosis the
problem I found the fuel pump wasn't turning on.
So I climbed under the truck and beat the hell out
of the pump. I turn the key and heard the pump
kick on and then the truck started just fine, but
it still ran real rough kinda like only firing on
a couple cylinders. then today the pump quit
working and again I hit it a few time and it
started up. The problem is the truck is misfireing

Message: the truck is firing right because it doesn't have the proper fuel pressure
change the damn pump
or better yet rig a hammer on a swing arm and pull chain so you don't have to climb under to beat on it any more!

Message: 8 bolts for the box, 3 screws from the goose neck, a couple snips
for some tie wraps, remove some wiring for the tail lights, a case a
beer with some buddies.....priceless!!
remove your box to access the fuel pump......its so much easier!!!
