Bought a 2004 V6 Quad cab 4x4 manual tranny last January. Something odd happens occasionally on a cold (not "cold" days.. just engine) startup.. I hear a pop.. just one.. and I thought it might be a ball joint or a CV joint going or something, because I usually start and go. Being a manual and my driveway on a hill (needing to back out anyways, i'm usually in motion when I start the truck). A few times, however, I have needed to start the truck, and wait for someone, so with the parking brake on.. and in neutral.. I start the truck and let out the clutch.. idling. Without any touch with the steering or movement of the wheels, etc. I hear that pop, and since my foot is on the floor, I feel something like someone kicked the floorboard under my foot underneath or the firewall with a boot or a small hammer.. Really odd. My hypothesis would be a backfire, but really don't see evidence of that with noise from the tailpipe, or what have you. Perhaps since the series of components all the way down to the tailpipe is enough to muffle this "backfire" if it happens really close to the engine side. I have no codes, no performance or other ignition problems I recognize. It happens just once usually within the first 30 seconds after startup. No unusual or long crank time before catching.. No rough startup. No high idle. Not a "real" problem, but don't know what to make of it.
Maintenance, since I have had it (about a year) has been: Map sendor, plugs (first was Bosch IR +4's - - I tossed those and put in NGK's), air filter, regular oil changes (have put 20k on it in less than a year - now at 104k)

check the motor mounts

when they are broken the engine will raise and
the bell housing will hit the fire wall and it
will feel like a kick
