Message: Just bought a V6 99 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 recently and replaceda whole bunch of parts. I had bad ball joints so I replaced all those, all fluids, and a few other things. Then I noticed my right front tire is wobbly. My wife was driving and I could see it while she was driving, and then while I was driving I could feel it slightly. I know I installed all the ball joints correctly and I didnt adjust the tie rod end at all so I figured the wheel bearings were going bad. So i just replaced that and still have a wheel wobble. With the tire in the air I have no play left or right or up and down. The wobble looks as though it is an up and down problem, not as if it is wobbling left and right. I thought my wheel was bad because this started when I rotated my tires after I did the ball joints. But I put the spare on and same thing. I dont think unbalanced wheels will give a noticable wobble at slow speeds too, as it is noticable at 10MPH. My dad and I were thinking maybe the rotor is warped a little and maybe that is causing the problem. Would an allignment fix this or a misallignment cause this? Thanks for any insight.

Message: take off the wheels and do a cross hatch pattern to tighten them back on...sometimes people put on the wheels and tighten the first nut then all the others are crooked.........

Message: i put them on like that. Im a mechanic in the army, and Im a competant one. The wheel is sitting flush on the rotor and they have been tighened in sequence. When the wheel is in the air and you spin the wheel by itself, you can sort of see that it is not spinning perfectly true. Like if you stair at one point of the wheel, you can see it wobble. I dont think its anything in my suspension. Although after I do the front brakes and rotors Im going to get it alligned anyway. *sigh. At least I havent put too much into this truck already. Just my labor. Also it overcools. Replaced the thermostat and it still wont go over 150 degrees. Unless the gauge is wrong and the heater isnt working right.

Message: I had the same problem about a year after I got my truck.
I went through the same thing you are.
Come to find out, my control arm bushings were bad.
I replaced them, myself, and it was a you know what to do.
It fixed my problem,
but three years later...
They are bad again. I don't know if I want to go
through that again.
But guess I will have to once it warms up.

Message: also I could noticably see the wheel spinning off balance while it is off the ground. That would make me think wheel bearing but that was fine. I dont know. I hate wasting money having someone else fix my stuff, but maybe this once, I ll have to pay someone to tell me whats wrongs. Thanks for your input. I ll check the bushings when I do my brakes tomorrow.

Message: I had the problem on the passenger side.
I never check to see if it wobbled while in the air.
I just noticed while driving
and had a friend drive by so I could look at it.
But I changed both upper and lower on both sides.
Took care of the problem until recently.
Now the driver side is bad and wobbles so much
it loosens the bolts on top and throws off the alignment.

Message: Well I replaced my rotors and I also replaced the whole knuckle, and my problem is gone. The hole that the top brake slide screw that goes into the knuckle was severely stripped and the caliper was a little loose up top. Instead of drilling and using a helicoil I decided to pick one up from a local salvage yard for 25 bucks. No more wobble. Glad it wasnt the bushings, because I dont feel like tearing it down too much at the moment. Also managed to fix my heat problem. Just flushed the core and good as new. All is well for now...
