Message: I was driving one day and started to experience missing problems. the truck soon died and would not start. I tried starting it a few times after that rarely once or twice it fired. has not since. I replaced my distributor, rotor, and plugs and wires. The truck fired after rolling a bit and proceeded to run. I let it idle for 10 minutes, it would backfire but it wasn't in any certain pattern but never died out, it didn't do that in the upper rpm's. i shut the truck off, and tried to start it again. Nothing. It will roll and almost fire up but it just dies. i have checked all the wires under the hood and checked the fuel pump/tank. Everything seems to be ok. I do notice a flicker in my cd player. it is aftermarket. Im wondering if i have a short inside my dash that i havent seen. Please please please any suggestions.

Message: Also the truck did sit for about four months due to the snow i couldn't get at it to work. Could this also be an issue. I read previously in the forum that somebody had battery issues. The battery would roll the motor and almost fire it but not be able to keep it at idle. my mechanic checked fuel pressure and spark and they were good. could this very well be a vacuum issue?

Message: I tried running thru the codes myself by turning the key on/off, on/off, on. It would not display any codes. I really don't have the money to hire a truck to take it somewhere. I read in the forum that that method would display the codes on the odometer? Is this correct?

Message: It should. on/off/on/off/on within 15 seconds. And by "on" I mean "on" not "start".
