Subject: Header bolt question. IP: Logged
Message: My header bolt in the middle snapped off on the passenger side of my 2k 3.9 and I was wondering if I can just pull the splash guard off the passenger side and remove the header that way? I know it has to be removed with a tap and dye or something like that but I am just worried that its gonna cost a ton just for one stupid bolt. Thanks ahead of time. Sorry if I always ask so many questions.

Message: ok i had to pull the fender well to get to my headers. but ohhh boy i dont know about getting in there with a drill to get that broken stud out. Id probably remove the head and invest in a good set of easy outs. I found on my 02 dak with 3.9 that all my hardware was cheap from the factory i broke 1 bolt on my intake and that was enough to start payin attention. they used the cheapest steel for some of the hardware that could barely take the torque required. once rusted in alot of em will break.

Message: I was hoping you would say it is easy lol. I am gonna try to check it soon when it stops raining and pull the little piece off thats held on by plastic pins. Looks like I could get to it that way but I have no clue. Just getting sick of smelling fumes when i drive.

Message: What i meant to say is that if i pull the tire off and that piece of splash guard or whatever it is called, it looks like i could get to it. I'm just hoping i can lol.

Message: Thats what i meant the plastic gaurds around the tire. i didnt pull my wheel but had plenty of room except on the left side due to the brake plumbing.

Message: Forgot to ask where to buy header gaskets? I checked Oreillys and Autozone online and they don't list any for my engine, it only shows v8. Any idea if they sell them at either store?
