 Subject: red hot exhaust manifold

i have a 88 dakota. the exhaust manifold gets red hot and i loose power and runs like crap. i have taken muffler off to see if it was collapsed but it is still good but still gets red hot and runs like crap. any other suggestions.

The only time I have seen the exhaust manifolds get red hot is when the timing is seriously retarded. With an 88, that is possible.

i had an old grand am turn the whole exhaust red. it was the coil...it had a miss and the unburnt fuel was being dumped into the exhaust ....then burning. so when you say it runs like crap..if its missing it may just need a tune up.

my mom tool my truck 2 day and i get in it and it has a deeper tone and and dont seem 2 have as much get up and go i have a single glass pack dumped any body no whats up
