Subject: Standard Up keep and Performance Questio IP: Logged
Message: Hello everybody! First off I just wanted to say that I tryed to become a member to this site and for some reason I can't. If anybody can help me with that that would be good.
Now on to the nitty gritty:
Well I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota 3.9 V6 SLT club cab auto. 126,xxx miles.
With no major modifications, I was wondering what would be a few good things I could do to this truck. I know it is a standard question here on this forum, but nobody really gets in depth with the answers.
What would I gain from putting a V8 TB on my truck? Hp, torque, and gas mileage?
What would a programmer do to my dakota?
What brand would be the best?
Also, what standard up keep procedures will help me get the most out of this truck?
I get a "Roaring" noise out of my rear end, how much would it cost to replace my bearings and stop the roaring?
Just a few things I have done recently...
-K&N drop in filter.
-Removed the boot from the front of the air box
-Flushed entire coolant system
-Replaced lower hose
-Replaced both right and left hub
-New rotors
that's about all that I can think of right now.
Please give me some actual research or you have actually used anything that you talk about.
Not K&N sucks because I use Airaid.
Thanks!!!

Message: I would eventually move up to an airraid CAI, its the same as the k&n-same basic principle and same air filter cone design. the airraid, well i dont know much change in performance it has compared to the airraid, its just when i bought my airraid back in 2001, k&n had yet to design a CAI kit, thats why im still sold on my airraid.
of course you dont have to do this, but i live in the desert and changing the thermostat to something cooler than stock seemed like a great idea and it sure helped the truck handle the summers much better, i have a 180'
then you can get a flowmaster exhaust
but by far one of the best things i added were pulley's, an underdrive crank pulley is awesome for low-end torque especially on the 3.9l
well i hope this helps a little
