Subject: Swapping Motors on 87 Dakota
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 1987 Dakota, with the v6 3.9 carburated engine, which, based from my experience and the words of others, is highly underefficient, underpowered, and generally less capable then even the 89 models. What I was wondering is how difficult it would be to change out the motor for something more modern, more powerful, and most importantly more gas efficient. (I have friends with v8s that pull better MPG then mine)

What, if any are the best possible engines based on these criteria that can be (relatively) easily modified for this truck?

Thanks for any and all help
-John

you could bolt an older 318 right in

We have run the multiport engines with a 500
holley 2bl and they also ran great

88 to 91 TB injection motors are roller lifter
motors these will also bolt in and run a carb
