tnx larry, will check connections. OD off lite comes on & rpm's jumps from 1700 to abt 2800. has only done it twice, hit OD off button & lite went off & rpm's fell back. just never had this happen & trying to stay ahead of any trouble. geo.

Was the truck overheating at the time? That will take it out of overdrive.

The truck may have not been hot .... but if the transmission starts to overheat it will do the same thing and not show on the engine temp. After the problem starts pull over and feel the lines going to the trans cooler ..... are they scorching hot ?

Not true for a 92 - the O/D engagement is NOT controlled by a transmission temp sensor, but by the coolant temp sensor. Later years had the inline temp sensor on the tranny. So if the coolant temp was OK, this is not the cause of O/D off.

I had that happen once with the performance comp
but it never happend again and it was a rainy day
and I did hit a few deep pudles

Another thing that happened with the performance
comp was when I turned the lights on the key
buzzer would go off and the blinker lights went on
dim than it never did that again

than the o2 sensor code kept coming on and it
finaly fried the computer this is the one I bought
used off this board and after I got it the guy
told me it had fried on him and was rebuilt

I still have 1 new performance computer sitting on
my bedroom dreaser but I am not using it right now
my stock with a jet 2 chip is running excellent
and my ASE chip comp which you can not get any
more is on my 94 with the 4.0 stroked motor it
runs greta on there but did not run well on my
3.58 stroke motor it had a lean out at 3000 rpm

so just watch for other strange things to begain
to happen than suspect the comp itself

That is the first computer I ever had any probs
with
