Subject: 95 dak engine keeps cutting off IP: Logged
Message: 95 Dak. 2wd. 6cyl. 3.9 mag.
Last summer, whenever I'd push the clutch in coming up to a stop sign/light....the engine would idle down and die. It would always crank right back up immediately, with no problems. It does this at almost every slow down/idle down when approaching a red light.
If I really baby it, I can usually get it to NOT cut off. But that sucks. LOL.
So winter time rolls around, and it doesn't do it anymore. All winter long. No problems.
THIS summer, I have had a COMPLETE ENGINE Rebuild.
New clutch, new water pump, etc...
The rebuilt engine is running butter smooth, but it's still cutting off at stop lights/ idle down when the clutch is engaged.
Other than that problem, the truck is running fantastic, no sputters, or other problems.
What could it be? Please advise where to start from least expensive to most expensive.

Message: Air intake needing cleaned? Don't know. The mechanic who rebuilt my engine is going to do a complete oil change tomorrow, and asked me to pick up a bottle of Carb Cleaner....cause I'm sure he is going to do just that....clean the intake control with it.
Egr Valve/solenoid? No clue if new or re-used.

Message: The IAC idle air control is located on the back
of the throttle body and needs to be removed to
clean also hole it came out of
you can test the movement of this
center of TB back on top there is a hole use your
thumb or a rag to plug this hole it should slow
down and when you remove it should rev up if not
its not working properly.
or with a scanner watch the steps as you rev motor
they will increse and than slowly return
If cleaning does not solve this than it needs to
be replaced
Another thing this could be is the TPS throttle
position sensor, drivers side of TB
center wire pos and good ground key on engine off
open and close throttle and it should always
return to same low volts .4 to .7 is the range
digital volt meter it should always return to
the same volts any flucuation to lower than
normal it will stall out replace
Also scan the IAT and engine temp sensors if you
say it did not do it in the winter watch them from
cold start to operating temp
