My check engine light came on my 99 Dakota, and ever since it has been on, every time i go to barely press the gas, my RPM gauge just flies up and it some times takes time to change the gears.
It never goes passed 4 rpms, but sometimes it gets close to there

Go to Autozone , or Pepboys
they will usually read the stored fault codes for free . This will tell what the actual problem is , or at least what is happening..

No = key on-off only works for up to 96
