 Subject: PLEASE HELP ENGINE MOUNTS

IM TRYING TO USE A 3.9 MOTOR OUT OF A 99 DAKOTA SPORT 2 WD IN A 97 DAKOTA SLT 4 WD THAT HAD A 3.9 IN IT BUT THE MOTOR DONT SEEM TO MOUNT IN THE 97 WITH THE 4 WD MOUNTS.SEEMS LIKE TWO DIFFRENT MOTORS BY LOOKING AT THE MOUNTS.CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS?

1999dakota, as you have found, the mounts are different from a 4X4 and the 2wheel drive models.
With the 4X4 the mounts bolt to the engine, and part of the front drive axle housing and the frame, where the 2 wd bolts to the frame and engine only. You should be able to swap the mounts from the 97 engine to the 99 and make it work ok.
