Subject: 96 front spider gears broke... IP: Logged
Message: So on my way home last night I suddenly felt the steering wheel jerk hard to the left, another 500 ft, same thing. Suddenly hear a hissing, rubbing, sound and an staggered CLUNK from the front end. Sounds like an axle is bouncing around. Limp it home and today I pop the front diff cover off to find a missing tooth on the spider gears. Call up Dodge and oh.. those parts are no longer available!.. WTF?
So I give the guy my VIN and he says I've got the 3.55 gear ratio. What should the diff tag have stamped on it? Mine is really rusty and hard to read but it does not look like it says 355. Looks more like 2065 or maybe 2665, hard to make out the second and third digit. Went to check the back but there is no tag at all. (Rear end was replaced before I bought the truck)
Where should I look for parts to fix this, and can anyone help me out with this stamped tag and what it means. I need to make sure I'm chasing after the right parts.

Message: You may be able to find parts at ringpinion.com
That's Randy's ring and pinion, they have a full line of parts for most every drive axle.
If you look at some 4X4 drive mag's there a few advertizers that can help you out.
Good Luck
