Subject: Head gasket? IP: Logged
Message: I recently was left a 3.9l 99 dodge dakota...I was told it got hot and needed a new thermostat... New thermostat installed and now the thing doesnt wanna run.. It spits and sputters and you have to stay on the gas to keep it from stalling out... also it seems there is excessive pressure in the radiator, just trying to start the truck and then remove radiator cap and it shoots fluid... Checked oil and there is no signs of coolant in it... Any help would be appreciated...

Message: To check if its leaking coolant into the cylinders remove the radiator cap, start the truck and if possible let idle and watch for any air bubbles to come to the top of the filler neck there will be a lot of bubbles. Or put a pressure gauge onto the radiator and start the truck if the pressure shoots way up there and fast theirs a cylinder pressurizing the cooling system. If that happens remove the spark plugs and look for the one that is wet. or remove the spark plugs pressure the cooling system with a pressure tester and find the cylinder that has coolant in it.
If you cant Dodge it Ram it
