Subject: Axle vent leaky ! IP: Logged
Message: I noted that after to run around 50 miles, at examinate the differential, there was a oil leaky coming from the axle vent of the diff. This only happens when I go to a highway, not in a small curse.
I looked the axle vent, it was normal, no obstructed or cracked. I changed the oil thinking that it was old. The Pick-Up manual specified 75w140. I put on the nivel marked on the case and did a test, but the leaky keeps going on. There's no leaky in other place, just there. There's no odd sound from the diff. How can I fix this?

Message: There should be a rubber hose about 2 ft long clamped to the axle vent. Is it in good shape?

Message: I think there is a service bulletin on installing a longer vent hose to prevent this. Also, what year truck is this? I think my manual specifies a 75W90 gear fluid. If yours is too thick, it may cause trouble.

Message: My truck is 1999, Dakota v6 Sport, brazilian version. My manual specifies 75w140 gear fluid for "hard work", then, ok, alright? - normal work is 75w90. API GL5.
Do you know where i can find this service bulletin?
