Swapped a new motor into my dakota the other day, Got it running yesterday. The motor be4 the evap system had cought fire. and was not hooked up motor run like it needed tune up. My motor had only 80.000 miles and needed nothing. ran like a champ but i wanted ext cab.
I got it in and it backfires at like 3.5 grand and dies when put into gear what is the deal?

When you say "Swapped a new motor into my dakota
the other day" do you mean a brand new complete
engine or a used bone yard engine? How many miles
on it if it's a used engine? Backfire sounds like
it be out of time. It could be sometime simple as
a cracked disc cap or as bad as a timing chain.
Might want to get some help on it...

How to determine which injectors are faulty? My mech said they are dripping when off causing tough start ups.

Did you disturb the distributor while swapping ?
It determines injector timing .
Are you sure the plug wires are on the right places ,and routed correctly ?
Everything else , sensors and so on all reconnected ?

pretty sure the dist. is fine, plug wires are correct and im almost positive the vacum lines are correct.

sounds like it could be the cam sensor which is in the distributor. or could a loose or bad ground/connection since you just put this motor in. check the wiring to the distributor first before changing the cam sensor.

was the crank sensor, it has the green wire connected by one strand of wire.
Also new ? Where does the little like two prong wire connect go which is next to the very last selinoid next to the driveshaft on driveside.
