I got a 1998 dakota sport with the 3.9L V6. I have noticed that the temp gauge on the dash will never get to the middle. It stays at 1/4 ways up the gauge. Is this normall for dakotas. Also i have noticed that my heat is really poor. possibly heater core??

cause could also be a low temp T-Stat

I have a 1998 3.9 and mine has never reached the 1/2 point, the temp runs at 195 summer or winter,
takes about 25 to 30 min to reach 195.

Could be the heater needs to be flushed out, remove the heater hoses at the core (firewall) and use a hose to flush, be sure to go from one inlet/outlet to the other until you get clean water coming out from either direction, reconnect heater hose top off with anti-freeze, and try again, the heater that is.
