my check engine light has been on for a long time. but i replaced the valve cover gaskets so i could look at the rockers to make sure everything was ok(jsut for the hell of it). and after i replaced the gaskets the light went off... ANYONE KNOW WHY? i didnt touch anything out of the ordinary. it still hasent come on after 500 miles. i have a 95 dakota 191000 miles. all i did was unplug the pcv then plugged in when i was done but ive done that befre. but the light was for the EGR. the light would flash the code twice. thanks

Either the vacuum hose connection or the
electrical connection (egr sensor) were
moved enough to reconect..
Most probable is the vacuum line = carefully inspect , replace if necessary.
