Message: my check engine light has been on for a long time. but i replaced the valve cover gaskets so i could look at the rockers to make sure everything was ok(jsut for the hell of it). and after i replaced the gaskets the light went off... ANYONE KNOW WHY? i didnt touch anything out of the ordinary. it still hasent come on after 500 miles. i have a 95 dakota 191000 miles. all i did was unplug the pcv then plugged in when i was done but ive done that befre. but the light was for the EGR. the light would flash the code twice. thanks

Message: Either the vacuum hose connection or the
electrical connection (egr sensor) were
moved enough to reconect..
Most probable is the vacuum line = carefully inspect , replace if necessary.
