Subject: Dakota Water Pump IP: Logged
Message: How much should it cost to get a water pump installed in my 98 3.9L V6 at my local Goodyear? I was expecting the bill to be somewhere from $150 to $200, especially because I was having one of my Dad's friends who works there do it, but I was surprised when they told me it was gonna be $315.
Is that how much it should cost? I really need to teach myself how to work on my truck, I could save myself a lot of cash...

You said it bud , That is probably very close at least for the 'going' rate for it .
But consider that if you knew how and had the tools , the pump is less than $ 100.00 ....

Message: Well!... I'm gonna tell you the water pump on my dakota 99 3.9 V6 auto. Went out last month and it started with a little leak on the tube connected to the water pump and never expected that, 5 days later the pulley on the water pump broke in the inside and got stock, even I couldn't move it with my hands, the same motion of the fan, made lose the cluth fan and came out of the pulley hitting the radiator as well, and that!... could be very expensive got that done at the shop, they wanted a lot of money. I Paid $73.oo dlls 4 a new water pump and $288.62 4 the a new radiator and got to replace it myself on the cold (not heated garage). If I should had replace the water pump sooner, I wouldn't replace the expensive radiator. but things happen when they are not taken care of it righ away!...
