my 99 3.9 v6 is squelling again. I replaced the pulley about 40k miles ago and the question is,

Is the bolt a regular left hand or is it a right hand thread.

Do I turn to the right or left to loosen.

thanks for the info

I had a problem with the belt squealing in cold weather, and even after replacing the belt, (it was cracked enough to replace) it wouldn't go away. The pulleys were fine. It was the tensioner not pulling all the way. I took the belt off and sprayed lubricant into the tensioner assembly, and worked it with a wrench through the full range of motion several times. Works like a charm now.

mdmak,
I have a rattle noise and am not sure if it is the water pump or the tensioner idler pulley? I pulled the belt off and spun each with the pulley seemiing to be one. Problem is I swear the noise is coming from the water pump. Thought you might have an opinion...
