Message:
I just got this code on the way home from work yesterday
P0455
EVAP large leak detected

Explanation
The ECM has detected a large leak in the EVAP system during a system monitor test

What should I be looking for with this one?
Any suggestions??
The truck is a '00 Sport Auto trans. It still runs fine with this code but I want to rectify this problem asap.
Thanks in advance

Check the connection at the canister under the L/S of the truck in front of fuel tank. More than likely a split hose.

I second the evap canister hose. Check the u-shaped one.

If it's cracked, you can get a new one at local parts stores for cheap. Also, be sure to let them know it's for fuel and not vacuum.

1. when is the last time you took it to the dealer
2.when do you have to go for emmissions
3.see if the lines have been cut//

reason why i needed to change the trannyfluid took it to the dealer......they look an saw i needed an emmissions test with in the next month.....they cut the lines with a razor and it didnt show up for 3 day ......then i got the code.......i did research here and larry told me it was an major evap sys prob....so i looked under the truck and they were all cut......the dealer wanted to smoke the system
300 plus dollars and i talked with the owner and told him of the rape....and he did me right...but i still felt i was wronged by that dealer......beware

I ran my truck up the ramps on the left side only, front and rear wheels. Then I checked the canister in front of the fuel tank.I did not see any thing wrong. So I thought I should start in up to listen for a vaccum leak. When I stared the truck up the check engine light was out. I don't think the truck healed itself, so now I'm really confused.

check under the hood by the purge valve either near the battery or the firewall. it has a green test port on it.

Check the purge valve itself, next to the battery. Two lines run to it, under the battery.

Mine is a 2002 and I'd been having an intermittent P0441 or P0442 for a couple years, and just couldn't find a split. Finally had to take the truck in for a safety recall, so I asked them to see if they could find where the problem was that was causing the P0441/P0442. Turns out that when I rerouted the vacuum line that the test port is on, I reversed those lines (plugged them just bass-ackward wrong). Why it didn't give more trouble than it did is beyond me.

I own a '94 and something is causing my code to flip, the check engine light keeps comming on.

Now it could be that I got some carbon stuck in the EGR valve.

What the likley hood of that?
