Subject: Click from front wheel IP: Logged
Message: I hear a click from the front driver's side wheel after I had the pads and rotors changed. The click is rhythmic like a baseball card in the spokes of a bicycle. What could cause that? Is it the wheel bearings?

Message: Dude,
Take the truck back to garage, you are in danger of your brakes failing!

Message: Thanks for the reply.
The clicking stopped when I took a 30 minute ride yesterday after I made the post, but it is back this morning.
I will take the truck back but I would like to have some idea what might cause it in case it does not click when I get there.

Message: The backing plate or dust sheild what ever you
prefer to call it sometimes gets bent and hits
Another thing is sometimes during instal a small
piece of dirt falls in between the rotor and hub
and you get runout causing the caliper to move
back and fort causing the click to become faster
the faster you go.
It is posible it is the wheel bearing but than it
should have been there befor the brake job
I had this one happen twice from walmart up here
97 dak guy went back fore his free rotation and
they got some debree between the wheel and rotor
and his truck would shake and his stearing wheel
was off from where it was before the rotation
another guy had a front brake job done at walmart
and they got some rust fell between the rotor and
hub causing runout and you could hear the caliper
moving back and forth
I gave these guys both the rasberries when they
came to get there vehicles back telling them it
was a big problem and telling them to sit down
before I give you the bill LOL they looked so
sad LOL than I told them no charge am I rotten
or what LOL
I fixed them both for nothing and than gave
walmart auto service a call informing them of
these 2 vehicles in the same month having this
happen asking them to have a word with the mech
who did this to these 2 vehicles and who knows
how mny others to tell him to be more carful and
watch for this in the future and they actualy
thanked me for doing that
Other than that the guy did a good job
sometimes its just something so simple I have had
it happen to me to but I took care of it befor
giving the vehicles back it can happen to
anyone very easy

Message: I remember when I was a kid, my mother had a 76 Cutlass that had this same problem. It turned out that the carter pin that holds the hub bolt on one of the front rotors was hitting the dust cap. Could be something as simple as that.
