bob, i think that's $25,000.00 fine. if you must modify the exhaust for performance improvement, replace the stock cat with a better flowing aftermarket version instead of removing it.

$2,500 for an individual; $25,000 for a shop.
High-flow cats work as well as no cat, and are legal. Either way, you're only gaining about 2-5 hp out of a couple hundred. Not even enough to feel.

i am well aware of the fines but if you read right it says pre-cat, i have a high flow cat on there. so therefor i did not break any law.

i removed 120 lbs of exhaust and replaced it with gibson ceramic headers and ceramic exhaust.....welded 02bung nuts where the 2 cats were and put in highflow magnaflow cats

gutting them is still easier and a hell of a lot cheaper. yeah your gibson exhaust set up is nice and im sure it sounds great too but its very pricy

i have 02 sensors and cat monitors and went thur emissions and they look to see what i did and they were impressed...oh by the way mr lincoln .003 hc .0002 n/o passed with flying colors magnaflow highflow cats....you dont know what your talking about....get caught if you have a straight thru...i can see that but not what i have done ,,,,its more legal than stock was....i had more hc when it stock ........

I do know what I am talking about. It doesn't matter if your mods lower emissions (usually not the case. Removal or disabling is illegal. Mods have to be certified by the EPA. Section 205, page 240 http://epw.senate.gov/envlaws/cleanair.pdf

all of the mods that i did are epa approved!!!!they stuck a hose up the exhaust and it was greenlights all the way around////

Section 203, 3A and 3B page 238, that mods to emissions control systems are not allowed. It doesn't matter whether your dealer did it or allowed it to be done. It's still illegal. Some dealers don't know or care.
Anger, insults, and childish stamping of your feet will not change what is written there. You can violate it or not - that's a choice that any adult can make (if you are one).
