Message: I recently changed my fuel pressure regulator and noticed the engine runs better with the vacuum line off of the regulator. why would this be? and would it hurt anything if i caped off the vacuum port and kept the line off?
Thanks

Message: I'm guessing you have an older model, like 87-90 maybe, I have an 88 and I did the same thing after I replaced the fuel pressure reg, it ran good for about a week then started running very rough and wouldn't idle so I unplugged the vaccum line and it smoothed out. I've only been running mine like that for about a year and half now and haven't had any problems. Like you said just be sure you plug the vacuum line and it should be ok.
I'm sure others will disagree with me, but that's ok, just try it and see what happens.

Message: older systems with the vac regulator
at idle full vac around 14 to 15 psi
when you excelerate should raise 17 to 18 psi
when vac drops
disconecting the vac line you will be at a higher
pressure all the time the o2 will trim the
pulse width to compensate and it will still run fine
