Subject: Fuel pump problems? IP: Logged
Message: Sorry, I am new to engines. I bought a 98 dodge sport seven months ago and it ran fine till last week. Now it wants to cut out every time I stop at a red light and it has a few times. The fuel guage only works some of the time also, so I am not sure if it is the fuel pump itself or if there is a short. When I try to start it I have to wait until I hear the fuel pump start then I crank it up but it still has trouble saying started. I was just wondering if it could be a short because the fuel guage is not working and every time it rains the floorboard on the passenger side gets soaked. If anyone has any info please share, I would appriciate it alot.
Thanks.

Message: The cutting out problem is more likely to be the
AIC = Air Intake Control , back side of throttle body ,, needing cleaned .
The fuel guage issue is more likely related to
the 'sender' in the tank = very similar to a
volume control on an old radio - cuts in and out
- on the radio it would give a lot of noise.
Here it just doesn't connect enough to give
a reading..
While you are checking things , check air filter
and spark plugs..
