Message: I have a 2000 V6 Dakota. Whenever I reach a speed of about 45-55mph there is a low level vibration and a rumbling type of sound. The vibration can be clearly felt at my feet and the gas peddel but not so much the further up you go in the truck. Also, at times there is a clicking type of noise when pressing on the gas peddle, but it stops once I'm off the gas peddle. More recently, when I press on the gas peddle It wont go above 20mph or so till I get up to about 2-2200 RPM then it seems to kick into gear and go. Any ideas on what could be causing this? A relative said it could be universal joints. I went out and bought replacement universal joints for my truck and am going to install them. However the truck not going above 20mph didnt start until just a few days ago. Any ideas would be greatl appreciated. thanks.

I'll have to get some transmission fluid for it. It's an automatic so I'm not sure what speed it is. I'm thinking it's a 5 speed.
