Subject: 93, wont start due to tranny? IP: Logged
Message: sometimes my 99 4X4 wont start because, im assuming its not in park. When i move the gear selector up and down from "p" to "1" sometimes it stops at "2" and i can feel it slipping or not catching. So im assuming that is indeed not in park then and that why it wont start. My dad and i played with the selector, shaking it and we got it start. Any ideas on this problem? thanks

Message: Yes , linkage probably worn a bit , or the
'neutral' switch going bad.
The [ indicator ] is another matter - only visual
You should be able to 'feel' the positions .
You may be able to adjust the linkage a little to
compensate , otherwise , like my 95 -= push a little harder going up into "Park"..
